With proper use and care, your Skyline Ti Titanium Wood Stove will last many years to come.
It is important to set and heat form your stove pipe before going into the field. With the stove pipe, if you do not take the time to do this it could result in a ruined stove pipe and significantly decrease the life of your stove pipe. A poorly rolled stove pipe will have crinks and buckles, which can compromise the structural integrity of the stove pipe. Once your stove pipe is heat formed, it will easily roll and unroll every time you use it.
Stove Box Assembly
- Place the bottom panel (panel with legs) with legs facing down.
- Take one of the long side panels and the front door panel and slide the male tri-fold end from the side panel into the female tri-fold end of the door panel. Make sure the air intake control on the door panel is facing down. Make sure the front and door panels sit inside of the bottom panel, not outside.
- Take the remaining side panel and put it insde of the bottom panel by sliding the tri-fold end into the side of the door panel.
- Take the back panel and put it inside of the bottom panel by sliding the tri-fold end of each side panel into the tri-fold female ends of the back panel.
- Place the top panel on top of the four side panels, making sure the stove pipe hole is located on the opposite side from the stove door.
- Thread in four of the wingnuts into the L brackets via the four holes located on the top of the stove panel.
- Flip the stove over and repeat step #6 by threading 4 wingnuts into the bottom L brackets via the bottom panel.
- Flip the stove back over once more by fold out the legs of the stove and extending them.
- Place the stove pipe connector piece into the hole on the top panel.
- Roll out the stove pipe (more below on how to do this properly), put it through the stove jack and place the bottom end of the stove pipe around (outside) of the stove pipe connector resting the bottom of the stove jack either on the flanges extending from the spark arrestor or the stove pipe dampening card.
Rolling and Heat Forming your Stove Pipe
- Unroll your new stove pipe so it is extended lengthwise.
- Carefully roll your stove on the long end, being mindful to not allow the titanium to pinch or buckle as you roll it. It helps to have at least two people do this, but preferably 3 people. If you have a fishing rod tube, or any other long cylinder shaped tube, this will help a tremendous amount in getting the stove pipe material to roll without buckling.
- Slide the stove pipe rings over the stove pipe in roughly equal lengths
- Try to pop out any spots where the stove pipe has buckled or pinched.
- Place the stove pipe adapter with built in spark arrestor on top of your stove, and then place your stove pipe outside of the stove pipe connector.
- With an assembled stove pipe and stove box, start a fire in your stove and gradually increase the size of the fuel. Once you get a good fire going, let it burn for 10-15 minutes.
- Let the fire burn out and let your stove cool off. Once you burn in your stove pipe once, it will now easily roll back into shape.
Tips for Rolling your Stove Pipe the First Time
- Never try to roll the pipe by yourself. Use the buddy system.
- Find a piece of PVC pipe, fishing rod tube or some other cylinder shaped object to put inside of the stove pipe material to roll the stove pipe for the first time.
- Grab a beer and take your time through this. If you rush through this, you'll kick yourself.
